Don’t be Ruthless.

Widowed, Ruth stayed to care for her mother-in-law, an elderly senior. And that was just the start.

Boaz replied, “I’ve been told all about what you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband—how you left your father and mother and your homeland and came to live with a people you did not know before. May the Lord repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.””

It’s been no secret that my passion lies in a heart for the forgotten elderly among us.

In my work, too many times I have seen first-hand their many plights and helplessness go unnoticed and unattended.

As I join their ranks myself, albeit better informed and better positioned to thrive in my remaining years, my heart has been broken countless times witnessing families abandoning their elders in their most needy years and fragile circumstances.

To read the story of sacrifice and dedication found in the life of Ruth and to know an entire book of the Bible is devoted to her caring character affirms that my God and I share this noble mission.

Some people use people until they are no longer useful or productive.

Read the entirety of this book and decide now that you won’t be among them.

When the time comes for your own season of selflessness and care for the elders among you, remember Ruth.

God surely did.
